Our Adoption Center & Policies
Our Adoption Policies
Our mission is to find loving, lifelong homes for cats in need. Please review the following guidelines before visiting:
Adoption Requirements
Adopters must be 21 years or older.
Cats must be kept indoors only, unless otherwise approved.
Outdoor or barn homes may be considered with secure fencing or netting (case-by-case basis).
Same-Day Adoptions
We offer same-day adoptions, pending a final medical check by our vet staff.
Bring a carrier if you're ready to take your new companion home!
If you need to schedule a later pickup, your adoption fee and final paperwork will be completed at that time. The cat will be marked as “pending adoption” and removed from our website.
After Adoption
Once adoption is finalized, you're responsible for all future veterinary care.
We do not recommend specific vets, as it depends on your location and preference.
Be sure to establish care with a veterinarian soon after adoption.
Visiting & Appointments
To receive one-on-one help, we recommend submitting an application or calling to schedule a visit.
You're also welcome to drop in during our open hours to browse and meet our cats! We just ask that you sign this waiver first and sanitize in between enclosures (we have hand sanitizer available).
Adoption Fees
Kittens (up to 9 months) — $200 (2 for $350)
Adults (10 months to 10 yrs) — $120 (2 for $ 210)
Seniors (10 years and older) — $80 (2 for $140)

Kitten Adoption Policies
Foster-to-Adopt Program for Kittens
At AnimalKind, we want every kitten to grow up healthy, safe, and loved. New York State law requires all animals to be spayed or neutered before adoption can be finalized. For this reason, all kittens under 8 months are adopted through our Foster-to-Adopt (FTA) program.
What is Foster-to-Adopt (FTA)?
You may take home kittens as young as 8 weeks old once they receive their first round of vaccines.
The FTA program allows you to foster with the intent to adopt until your kitten is ready for spay/neuter.
Once surgery is completed, the adoption is finalized—you’re officially their forever home!
Where Are the Kittens?
Many of our kittens are raised in foster homes for better socialization and care.
Visit our Available Cats page to view kittens ready for adoption. Fill out an application and notate the kitten or kittens you are interested in.
If you're adopting a bonded pair, only one application is needed.
I am an Adopter - What’s Next?
You'll receive a vaccine schedule and appointment dates for:
Three rounds of the FVRCP (feline distemper) vaccine
Rabies vaccine (given at time of spay/neuter)
All appointments will take place at AnimalKind in Hudson, NY
You may use your own vet, but please note:
Outside vet care costs are not covered
All care provided by us before adoption finalization is included at no additional cost
The Adoption Center is open Wednesday through Sunday weekly from 11am until 4pm.
The Adoption Center is closed to the public on Monday and Tuesday.
Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are also welcome.
