Volunteer and Help Us Save Lives

At AnimalKind, we save lives every day. We work tirelessly to save the most vulnerable animals within our community. But we can’t do it alone. Our volunteers are our lifeline to help us continue rescuing and saving the lives of animals in need. And we need more of you!

Got an hour or two or ten? We’ll take any and all of it!
Got space in your heart? We’ve got a fur kid who can fill it!

Volunteering is not only great for our animals, but it also builds bridges within our community, empowers you to be part of a more compassionate future, and can even heal a heart or two. And don’t forget, volunteering can also be very rewarding and super fun!

There are many opportunities for volunteering at AnimalKind—from office work to event coordination or just spending time petting a scared stray kitten. So, if you’ve got the time, we’ve got the task. And our cats and kittens would LOVE to see you!

Whether you can spend 2 hours a week or 24 hours a week, we need you!

  • Cleaning and Socializing: Spend time with our cats cleaning their enclosures and spending time with the animals. Shelter settings can be scary and sometimes just a friendly voice and some company can make a world of difference.

  • Social media: Creating posts on adoptable cats and kittens, and filming rescue actions. We are looking for volunteers to help us create a Tiktok account!

  • General: Working on mailings, helping with fundraising events, writing thank you cards to donors

  • Foster homes: Foster parents are always needed for cats and kittens while we look for purr-fect permanent homes for them. As we often have a sudden influx of rescues, we frequently need foster parents to give them an emergency safe haven. We provide food and supplies for foster animals and are in constant contact with foster parents.  Apply to foster here

  • Caretaking: Currently, we are feeding 180 cats in 15 managed colonies. Several caretakers visit the colonies on a daily base to feed and monitor the cats to see if there are any newcomers or any in need of medical attention.

  • Trapping: The demand for our trap/neuter/return services has increased to humanely reduce cat overpopulation. We need volunteers to trap the cats and then transport them to and from our shelter.

  • Marketing: Any help with public relations, advertising, mailings, grant research and writing, or fundraising is greatly needed, with increasing emphasis on social media.

  • Construction: We always need carpentry or painting done in our shelter, and we also need shelters built to house feral cats in the winter.
